CLASS CONSCIOUS

In one summer holiday, I got a summer job as a teaching assistant in an
English speaking nursery. My second younger sister also found a job as a
sales assistant in a famous music shop specialising in selling pianos; it
was situated in Central District, the capital of Hong Kong. She worked
there for only a few days because one day when she was in the shop, she
saw somebody she knew walking in, and she quickly hid herself. She felt
embarrassed working as a sales assistant and di
d not wish her friends to
know that she was employed in such a lowly job.

She never had a good relationship with our mother as she was brought up
by our grandmother in her early childhood. She went off to New Zealand
to further her education after our grandmother had passed away. Several
years later, when I was crossing a road in Central District, I saw her
walking in the opposite direction. I walked up to her and asked her when
she came back to Hong Kong. That evening she called our mother saying
that she was back.

There was a time when she had to destroy all her credit cards because
she was spending beyond her means with her credit cards. It was
sensible of her to have done so, otherwise she would end up in heavy
debt.

My first younger sister never had any summer jobs.
